The EU Patent Examiner has informed Lipogen Ltd., Israel, of the approval of its request for patent grant of PAS – a dietary supplement ingredient for mental stress control. This patent has already been granted in Israel and the USA.
   Lipogen PAS is a patented vegetarian complex of soy lecithin phosphatidic acid and phosphatidylserine that may help control mental, psychological and physical stress. According to a published clinical research in The International Journal on the Biology of Stress, which was conducted at the University of Trier, Germany, Lipogen PAS improved function under long-term mental and psychological stress conditions. This brain health ingredient can be delivered via dietary supplements or functional foods and beverages.
   Lipogen PAS attained GRAS status, as have all other phosphatidylserine products that Lipogen offers, and can be applied to a wide range of functional foods, as well as nutritional beverages, nutrition bars and dairy products. “The market size for Lipogen PAS is by far bigger in comparison with other common phosphatidylserine products,” says David Rutenberg, CEO of Lipogen. Phosphatidylserine and phosphatidic acid are natural phospholipids that constitute the biological membrane on the outer layer of the brain cells. Under prolonged stress the body is unable to produce enough phosphatidic acid and phosphatidylserine. This eventually prevents normal functioning of our brain and body.
